WASHINGTON, DC -- In a close vote, the United States of America's House of Representatives failed to pass an amendment to a bill that would have defunded the National Security Agency's dragnet phone surveillance of American citizens. By a vote of 217 to 205, the House decided to allow the program to continue.

Richard Hudson (R)
Robert Pittinger (R)
David Price (D)
Voting to cut funding were:
Walter Jones (R)
Patrick McHenry (R)
Mark Meadows (R)
Mel Watt (D)
Representative Howard Coble was recovering from surgery and did not vote.
