The News & Record needs to flip its organizational model. The job of the editor, at least as it was traditionally known and which the N&R continues to try to impose on its operation, is of less significance now than is the job of those who can expertly deploy, maintain and develop new ideas for computational journalism in service to reporters (i.e. computer assisted reporting.)
Ask yourself, who is more important, the guy who decides what's going to go where in the paper or the guy or gal who understands how to electronically link reporter and audience in fresh and creative ways, avoiding the likes of above?
