Free Speech-Free Saturday?

How is it that the Obama campaign, using a publicly owned facility and, possibly, surrounding sidewalks and streets to accommodate the crowd, can issue announcements for Obama's Greensboro appearance that say "Signs and banners are not permitted?" If someone were to display a sign, would the GPD protect that person's First Amendment rights or assist with that person's removal?

  1. Very interesting point Roch. The Obama campaign might suggest "no signs or banners" but I do not believe they can enforce it.
You gonna test it on Saturday?

  2. I don't know, Tony. I am waiting for a reply from the City's public relations person, Pat Boswell, to see how or if, this will be enforced.
