GREENSBORO, NC- Ground has been broken on a new housing complex for students at UNC-G. The Province is scheduled to open in August of next year and house 600 residents. The new construction did not come without contention, however. It was the subject of heated debate, neighborhood meetings and even a protest petition. Some residents were concerned about the impact such a large-scale student development would have on their neighborhood, which already has a majority rental population. As recently as last week, “Save College Hill” signs remained posted in at least a couple of yards. [But] Despite the opposition, the City Council in April voted unanimously to allow the project.

  1. Thanks for pointing this out Roch. It's an ongoing problem in the industry. It isn't just radio stations but sometimes TV stations as well.

The annoying thing is that there is a protocol for using other people's work: pay them for it (AP wire style) or cite them as the source. That's the appropriate thing to do if you don't have the reporters to have your own newscast.

  2. Thanks for commenting, Amanda. What Rush Radio is doing is not reporting and when T.J. Catini, Adam Chappelle or Pam Furr say, "Reporting for Rush Radio," they are deceiving their audience. They are not reporting and saying they are when they are just reading their barely rearranged versions of others' works is contemptuous of the professional journalists who are doing the reporting. And they must think their audience is too dumb to ever notice too.
