An offline commenter was chastising me for focusing on Yes!Weekly's bonehead sensationalism wrapped around Jordan Green's article, "Poor documentation and fraud found in dwi dismissals," instead of the significance of what was revealed by the reporting.
He has a point. So let me take one last swipe and say this is another reason why posting online and printing on the cover of the print edition the mug shots of people who are only tangentially related to the subject of the article was so incredibly lame. It shortchanged Jordan, failing to promote the substance of his article and taking attention away from it; It insulted readers, assuming we would not get to the meat without some cheese as bait; and it embarrassed people unnecessarily, making them look like culprits while the real culprits are nowhere to be seen.
As I told the commenter, Yes! cannot expect us to read it like the Times when it packages its reporting like the Enquirer. (Yes! is often schitzophrenic that way, but that is another topic.)
So, with that out of the way, go read Jordan's article. It is important. It is about a broken court system, the kind of thing we should all care about seeing fixed.
