Robinson miscasts a report on the metropolitan area as a report on Greensboro. Once again, Greensboro is subjected to the dilution that occurs when it is included among Winston-Salem, High Point and the eleven county hinterlands and this time, the newspaper's editor doesn't even notice.*

JR may have gotten it wrong about the blogging list, but your own post seems to me to be lacking context by making it seem that the big bad editor disdains local blogs.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at his track record over the years it's hard to say he's eager to impugn local bloggers -- he has been a respectful participant in the local scene from the early days, and was in fact something of a trailblazer among newspaper editors in that regard.
I am making a distinction between his participation in the medium and his attitude towards local blogs which I think is exemplified by a dearth of links from his to others, private comments he has made regarding the attention he pays to local blogs, his nearly complete absence from local blog comments and this. But that's all I've got. Translating "Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem" to "Greensboro" could well have been unintentional.
