Some political strategists have advocated that residents vote for one or two candidates to ensure a particular ideology rules the council.
Some political insiders have debated asking Abraham, the sixth-place finisher in the primary, to step aside to ensure that Abuzuaiter gets the third seat to tip the council in a liberal direction.
The same suggestion has been made to newcomer Lawyer, who beat fellow conservative Thompson in the primary and is in competition for the third council seat.
All the partisanship — which has permeated the current City Council — doesn’t sit well with some members of the community and with some candidates.

A good piece, Roch. The strawman should never be deployed by a media organization. It is commonly used to advance an agenda by using the strawman to say what the alleged objective newsperson really wants to say.
ReplyDeleteThe idea that partisanship is something new is just an argument to get rid of those elected in 2009. The trick is trying to make it appear as if everything was fine until "they" came along in an effort to influence the voter.
