Look who's talking

Now that it is to his advantage, Guilford County Commissioner Skip I-will-never-talk-to-the-most-unethical-Joe-Killian-again Alston talks to reporter Joe Killian.

Alston, March 11, 2010:
I told Mr, Killian or Mr. Wilbur, whichever way he wants to call his name, don't call me any more. I am not going to respond to any questions from you because I don't trust you and therefore I would not say anything because I know you would probably take it out of content and put it in a very negative light. 1. The thing that keeps politicians and journalists talking to each other is a super thick skin -- and a mutual need to be in each others lives. It's kind of a co-dependent relationship.

  2. Thanks for the comment, Amanda. Thick skins are one thing, Alston engaged in character assassination on Joe with no chance for Joe to respond. That Alston is now willing to talk to Joe suggests that Alston was exaggerating at the expense of Joe's reputation -- a disgraceful exercise.

  3. Alston has said for many years that he has "no permanent friends, no permanent enemies."

Though we don't usually get to go on the bare-fanged assault as often as politicians, that's more or less the motto most reporters live by as well.

  4. Did Melvin or Skip, whichever way he wants to call his name, really say that Joe might take it out of content?
