I made the following records request of the City of Greensboro on June 4, 2009:
--------
Please provide me with all email correspondence (sent and received) for
the following individuals for the period of April 10, 2006 through April 30, 2006 (inclusive):
John Shaw
Tim Bellamy
Mitch Johnson
City council members
---------
Today, I received this reply: "No pertinent documents were found pertaining to your request."
This is the most contemptuous bullshit and it has to stop.
so none of them sent or received email during that 21-day period? how very, very odd. hmmm. i guess you'll just have to give up, roch. if the city says there are no emails...
ReplyDeleteAre you able to produce some evidence that there were emails by these folks, or is your request a fishing expedition?
ReplyDeleteShoving a copy of some emails they say don't exist might spur them into "finding" them.
roch, you need to dwindle it down to between 2 people not the whole council. Like e-mail between Mayor Johnson and Mitch Johnson and the dates.
ReplyDeleteWhy?
ReplyDeleteThe above was to Triadwatch.
ReplyDeleteTo Jaycee, I understand why you are asking what you are asking, and I am going to decline to answer for reasons that should be obvious. As we both know, however, the city's obligation to produce the documents I describe is not dependent on the answers to your questions.
well then how about only asking for one person's e-mail for a certain period of time like say, Mayor Johnson incoming and out going e-mail for a certain period of time. That should produce results. The more you add the harder it is to get.
ReplyDeleteThese are the emails I need, Triadwatch. The reply I got did not say that the request was too "hard," or that I could have Mayor Johnson's incoming email if I wanted. The request is fine. It's the response that is lacking.
ReplyDeleteAny update on this, Roch?
ReplyDeleteJaycee, than you for your interest, Open government is something that should be in the interest of all citizens mo matter other disagreements, so I appreciate your support.
ReplyDeleteEight days ago, I was told that the reply I received was actually a forwarding of a reply to a previous request and that, in fact, no action had commenced on this request in the eleven days since it was made and this original blog post. I was told that they would be getting to work on it, eight days ago. (Although I did say I'd rather they be thorough than fast.)
Thanks, I was just curious.
ReplyDeleteAnd if there's any bombshells in the comms I'm sure we can count on you to fill us in.
