With all of the hand wringing about what value may keep newspapers afloat, one thing I am certain is a losing proposition is being a megaphone for government propaganda.
The Inside Scoop posted an excerpt from a City of Greensboro press release today that reads, in part: "a draft of the Google Fiber application will be published later today for residents to view and provide input."
Yet, when it became clear that a draft of the application was not published, when it was brought to the attention of the reporter that the press release author said elsewhere that the draft will not be posted until Thursday, one day before the application is due, the reporter declined to update the post.
That's stenography, not reporting.
