It is unlawful for any corporation, business entity, labor union, professional association, or insurance company to directly or indirectly contribute to a candidate. This includes donating items to committees for fundraisers and sponsoring holes at golf tournaments. Political committees not registered with North Carolina are also prohibited from contributing.That seems pretty straightforward to me. No companies. No unions. No unregistered PACs. So, unless I'm missing something, it seems as if the following recent contributions to city council candidates are prohibited.

$1,000 from RRA Local Candidate Funding (not found as a registered PAC within the state)
Bill Knight
$1,000 from the Sharp Pencil PAC, Dulles, VA (not found as a registered PAC within the state)
Robbie Perkins
$200 from Linder Ventures, LLC.
it looks like the drive committee registered on local level not state level. Linder contribution is illegal.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you find that, Keith? I checked the Guilford County Board of Elections website, but do not see any finance reports from any such PAC for 2011.
ReplyDeletelooks like yvonne had them registered as a local pac on her returns and then hoffman has them registered as a federal pac. These returns are pitiful again just look at all the blank spaces for their profession and who they work for. Then yvonne uses professional as a excuse for not getting the information

A candidate can check any box they want on their form, especially a candidate who, as you note, is so casual with their finance reporting. Yvonne may claim the PAC is registered locally, but there are no campaign finance reports filed with Guilford County for this PAC in the past ten years.
