Did Thomas Jefferson really say all the things attributed to him in this morning's reader contribution to the N&R?
No evidence exists that he said the first one, according to the "spurious quotations" section of the Thomas Jefferson Encylopedia. Number three doesn't show up there at all, number four is said to be a misattribution, number five was said by Gerald Ford, number six is "at least partly spurious."
