Red Mike's murder trial

99 Blocks' Bill Hancock is in the courtroom and reporting in intriguing detail the trial of Charles Antoine McKenzie for the 2008 murder of Mike Ali, former owner of Red Mike's Grocery in downtown Greensboro.

In testimony Wednesday, police had said a dark zippered pullover, a black zippered jacket, a pair of sunglasses and a black baseball hat were found in the garbage cans along with a handgun.

[Detective Michael G.] Terry told the court Thursday that a .44-Magnum handgun was found in the pocket of the jacket. In earlier testimony, the handgun was shown to be the one that fired four shots in the Red Mike Grocery. And DNA found on some of the clothing was identified as that of the defendant.
