"It ain’t over, folks." (Or No time for the snooze button)

"It ain’t over, folks." So sayeth Sue Polinsky regarding Time Warner Cable's announcement that it is dropping its plan to experiment with tiered pricing and data caps for its Greensboro customers -- and Sue is right.

TWC hedges its announcement: "We will not proceed with implementation of additional tests until further consultation with our customers and other interested parties, ensuring that community needs are being met."

So we have some breathing room after a wake up call, but now is not the time to hit the snooze button. Greensboro's needs will be met when we have competition for broadband access in Greensboro. Mayor Yvonne Johnson should follow through with her intentions to try to recruit competition to Greensboro. And if any other elected officials would like to lend her a hand, that would be just dandy: give us geek types an issue to consider in this fall's elections.
